ScrapSplash 2004! The San Fernando Valley's First Scrapbooking and Stamping Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, April 17, 2004
Sherman Oaks, CA March 30, 2004–-This extravaganza will bring many scrapbooking and stamping suppliers under one roof for a day of fun and learning! Scrapbook It!, Creative Memories, Stampin' Up, We're Impressed, and more will add to the excitement. Suzi Finer Artworks will be on hand to teach classes on altered books, the new phenomenon that is taking the scrapbooking world by storm. Customers may also rent a table space at our all-day "crop," where they can bring their own pictures and scrapbooks to work on.
Mark Twain may have been the first to use the word "scrapbook" as a verb but he would hardly recognize the craft as it is today. Scrapbooking is an art form: creatively displaying photos and memorabilia with extensive journaling of life's moments, big and small. Pages are decorated with stickers, stamping, artwork, die cuts, sand, beads, you-name-it! All in the pursuit of creating a personal and expressive family treasure.
Scrapbooking and other paper crafts have taken off like a rocket: the Hobby Industry Association, a trade association of craft and hobby manufacturers and merchandisers, calls scrapbooking the fastest-growing leisure-time activity in America. The Hobby Industry Association estimates that the number of scrapbookers in the United States has quadrupled in the past five years, to 20 million. Annual scrapbook industry sales in 2003 were estimated at $2.55 billion, up almost 28 percent from the year before, according to a recent survey by Creating Keepsakes magazine, a monthly scrapbook-industry publication of 250,000 circulation. This year's projections are estimated at more than $3 billion. It has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. Come be part of this exciting new trend! No experience necessary! Just bring your pictures and life stories. We can help you with the rest.
